Prep Roundup: Carson JV girls win classic

The Carson girls JV team beat Reno, 34-32, in overtime to win the State Farm Holiday Classic on Friday.

Carson's Carly Bachmann and Kayla Aikins made the all-tournament team. Natali Salas was the most valuable player of the tournament.

Carson improved to 10-2 on the year.


Dayton 32, Reed 27

The Dayton High girls JV team defeated Reed, 32-27, in the fifth place game of the State Farm Holiday Classic on Friday.

The Dust Devils had a rough first half before out-scoring Reed 10-2 in the third quarter.

Taylor Ingersoll led the team with 12 points. Ingersoll was named to the all-tournament team. Freshman Cheyanne Strong came off the bench and scored six points for Dayton.

Dayton finished the tournament with a 3-1 record improving to 7-3 on the year. Dayton hosts Sparks at 3 p.m. Jan. 3.


FRESHMEN BASKETBALL

The Carson High boys freshmen basketball team lost 38-32 to Damonte Ranch in the State Farm finals on Friday.

Cameron Price led Carson with 16 points.


Douglas 34, CHS 29

The Douglas girls freshmen basketball team made its free throws en route to a 34-29 win over Carson in the State Farm Holiday Classic championship game on Friday.

Douglas was 10-of-19 from the free throw line while Carson was 3-of-10.

Leading Carson was Michelle Perry with 14 points and Maddi Preston with nine points. Preston was named to the all tournament team.

Carson is 9-2 on the year.
