One of the boldest efforts to come out of the lobby yesterday in the shape of a bill was to move the State Prison at Reno to the expense of $80,000. Any sane man knows in an instant that the walls could not be put up at such a cost. The state has had experience with Washoe County, which is like a sponge taking up water.

100 YEARS AGO

On a tie vote of 20 to 20, a move by Assemblyman Robins of Humboldt County to move the state Capitol from Carson City to Winnemucca has failed without a required majority vote.

70 YEARS AGO

The Carson Senators defeat the Lovelock Mustangs 49 to 16. Coach McElroy used 13 men, with the first string only in half the playing time.

50 YEARS AGO

The Punxsatawney groundhog misled onlookers today by nearly seeing his shadow. That means, according to an 80-year old legend, that we can expect six more weeks of winter.
