This time of year is often a time when families are facing the reality of loved ones who are not getting better and are suffering from advanced stages of dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Carson City provides a supportive environment for caregivers dealing with this and other issues. The support group meets every third Thursday of the month to discuss legal, medical and emotional issues specific to caregiving.

Dr. Deb Cash, educational psychologist, brings in monthly speakers and specialists to discuss new developments in dementia, care for Alzheimer's patients along with new legal, medical and emotional strategies to caregiving and end of life issues.

At the February meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the group will discuss the most recent issue of Woman's Day Magazine that is specifically devoted to caregiving.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend these free meetings at the Rectory next to St. Peter's Church at 312 N. Division Street or call 882-1534 for more information.
