WNC hosts annual athletics fundraiser

Western Nevada College annual fundraising event this year will feature pitcher Kevin Jepsen of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Jepsen, a Bishop Manogue High School graduate, is a right-handed reliever and a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Not only can you help WNC athletics but you have the option to help support a Nevada high school baseball or softball program. Fifty percent of the net ticket proceeds may be directed to the Nevada high school softball or baseball team of your choice. So come out and support the entire local athletes in the area.

GIRL SCOUT TROOP 588

A big hats off to the wonderful Girl's Scout Troop 588 and their leader, Sherry Glick for the huge donation of mittens, hats and scarves to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). With the help of Carson City Library and children's librarian, Amber Sady, Troop 588 collected hats, mittens, scarves, and even some socks to benefit local children. Some of these items were handmade by anonymous donors. So many children out there need warm items this time of year and this collection really helped out.

Also remember the school nurses, who can always use mittens, gloves, scarves and beanies for the children. Thanks Troop 588 for the hard work in helping others.
