The Lake Bigler (Tahoe) stage, with four passengers struck a chuck hole filled with snow throwing all the passengers out. The driver with great presence of mind jumped into a snow bank and with the reins in his hand prevented the horses from getting away.

Swastika: A group of young men who were led by sailors of the United States Navy, tore down the swastika flying from the window of the German consult on O'Farrell street in San Francisco.

Tax revenue: The opening of the Costco store in South Carson City helped sales tax revenues $4 million over the previous November. The increase raised taxable income in Carson City from $11.5 million in November 1999 to $15.4 million in November 2000.
