10-year-old boy dies from injuries in accident

A 10-year-old boy injured in a rollover accident Thursday night has died from his injuries according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Felix Vargas was pronounced dead at approximately 11:37 p.m.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a silver Ford Explorer was southbound on Highway 395 just north of Airport Road when the driver, Maria Santos Vargas, lost control causing it to roll over.

Felix Vargas was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight.

Maria Vargas was transported via Care Flight to the Reno Renown Medical Center with nonlife threatening injuries.

There were a total of eight individuals in the Explorer, two others that were transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center with nonlife threatening injuries. Everyone else in the Explorer was treated at the accident scene.
