Gov. Brian Sandoval on Friday named two members of the Public Utilities Commission.

He reappointed Rebecca Wagner, saying her work on the commission "has been grounded in the law and well-reasoned." Wagner has been on the commission since 2006. Before that, she was Gov. Kenny Guinn's energy adviser and director of the Nevada State Office of Energy.

Sandoval also named David Noble to replace Luis Valera, who has resigned effective Aug. 12 for personal reasons. Noble has experience as a utilities hearing officer and an assistant general counsel to the PUC and has worked for the agency since 1997.

Acting insurance, labor commissioners named

Nevada Department of Business and Industry Director Terry Johnson is announcing new leadership appointments.

Johnson on Friday named Amy Parks as acting insurance commissioner. She will replace Brett J. Barratt, who has resigned effect Aug. 12 for personal reasons. Johnson says Barratt is moving out of state.

Parks currently serves as chief counsel for the Insurance Division.

In another shuffle, Labor Commissioner Michael Tanchek is leaving that job to join the division's legal team. Larry Dizon, the labor commissioner's chief investigator, will become acting labor commissioner.

Johnson says he will begin recruiting for candidates to fill the commissioner jobs on a permanent basis.
