Plaza Hotel in Vegas to reopen

LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas is reopening after a $35 million renovation.

Hotel officials announced Wednesday the property will start accepting hotel guests Sept. 1, and the casino will reopen in August.

The extensive overhaul included a remodeled casino floor and lobby.

The 1,037-room hotel closed last November.

Many of the new marble floors, leather desk chairs and carpet accents were purchased from the multibillion-dollar Fontainebleau Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip. Work on that project has been suspended.
