130 YEARS AGO

Yesterday in Judge Cary's Court was the scene of a very remarkable case in the quarrel between two neighbors. John Buckley was charged with assault and battery and Henry Randolph with trespass. Buckley awoke the other night with his little dog barking. Usually, he goes with a shotgun, but it was out for repairs so went out after the intruder with a club. After a thwack, he found it was his neighbor who did not know why he was there. (continued Friday).

Elvin Nelson was elected president of the Carson City 20-30 Club. Other officers included Ross Gold, vice president; John Oberfell and Archie Pozzi Jr., long-term directors; and Earl McWilliams, short-term director.

50 YEARS AGO

Three Carson City and Reno youths had their gun confiscated by the Ormsby County Sheriff's Office after they were found using the weapon to shoot jack rabbits in a populated area of Carson last night near Overland Acres.

Bob Gagnier will retire after 30 years as executive director of the State of Nevada Employees Association.
