Gutzon Borglum, famous sculptor of the Mackay Statue at the University of Nevada died. His most noted work was done at the National Memorial Museum at Rushmore, South Dakota. Mr. Borglum came to Nevada to superintend the placing of the Mackay statue and spent six weeks at the Davis Ranch north of Carson, home of Mrs. Nellie V. Davis (owner of the Nevada Appeal).

50 YEARS AGO

Births at Carson-Tahoe Hospital: Mr. and Mrs. Troy Williams of Carson City are parents of a boy. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jepsen of Carson City are parents of a boy.

Carson City High School students honored: Erik Alldredge, Kasey Doescher, Zachary Thomas and Dan Edwards were honored as having earned straight A's, having excelled academically while taking a rigorous course of study throughout their high school years.
