Navy League hosts council meeting

The Navy League Carson City Council Meeting will be from 5:30-8 p.m. March 16 at Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, 2171 E. William St.

The social hour is at 5:30 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. Speakers for the evening will be the Navy recruiters.

The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 and is a civilian organization with more than 50,000 members dedicated to educating American citizens and elected officials about the importance of sea power to U.S national security and supporting the men and women of the sea services and their families.

Emblem Club offers St. Patrick's dinner

The public is invited to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the Emblem Club No. 507 on March 17.

Attendees will be served corned beef with all the trimmings for $10 at the Elk's Lodge, 515 N. Nevada St.

Cocktails are at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds go to local charities.

Desert brushes meet Wednesday night

The Carson Valley Desert Brushes will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at the Johnson Lane Firehouse, 1460 Stephanie Way in Minden.

Painters of all levels, and those who would like to learn to paint, are welcome.
