Gardnerville man wins gas card from Nevada Appeal

Dave Gebhardt of Gardnerville won a $250 gas card from Maverick Gas Station on Tuesday for taking part in a Nevada Appeal reader survey.

Gebhardt said he was happy to participate in the survey.

"I worked at the Eagle Valley Golf Course for a number of years and we got the paper on a daily basis," he said. "I could see how the paper was trying to improve, and I thought it would be nice to have some input."

Nevada Appeal Publisher Niki Gladys said the survey results will be a useful tool in providing readers with the information they need and want.

"The folks at the national survey company we worked with are used to working with news organizations our size, and they're experts at helping markets grow," Gladys said.

More than 200 people participated in the survey, which took 20-25 minutes to complete, she said.

"I was encouraged to learn that a lot of people in our market have plans to make some fairly significant purchases over the next year. That was optimistic," she said.

The survey gave readers the opportunity to provide answers to questions such as "What news do you read?" "What websites do you visit?" "Where do you shop?" and "How do you use the Nevada Appeal and nevadaappeal.com?"

Gladys said the survey will be offered periodically to keep a pulse on the community.

Gebhardt said he expected his $250 gas card "could last awhile," because he has a Honda.

His name also will be entered in a national drawing to win a $1,000 American Express gift card.
