Man leads deputies in chase through two counties

A Michigan man who allegedly threatened to kill some of the patrons of a Carson City bar led deputies on a chase to Stagecoach Thursday morning.

James Fowler, 48, was at the Schmitt House at 1 a.m. when he allegedly asked a bar patron if she had ever watched someone die and then told her she was going to watch her husband die that night. He then allegedly pulled a 12-inch knife.

The owner of the bar told Fowler to leave, but Fowler charged at him with the knife, he reported. Other bar patrons were ultimately able to force Fowler out of the bar with no one being injured, according the sheriff's report.

When deputies arrived, Fowler got into his van and drove away. Carson City deputies tried to pull him over but Fowler managed to make it to Lyon County where deputies there continued the chase.

They eventually caught him in Stagecoach and transferred him to the Carson City jail. Deputies reported Fowler was highly intoxicated.

Fowler was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, and a misdemeanor for threats.

No bail was set.
