Community helps CHS basketball programs

As the Carson High School basketball teams get ready for the 2011-2012 season, the coaches and players would like to thank everyone who participated in, volunteered at, and donated items for, the annual beer and brats fundraiser.

Through ticket sales, donated raffle prizes, the continued support of our community and families, as well as the businesses located in Carson City, it was possible for us to reach our financial goal.

It was another year of great food, great people and great results. Thank you.

Thanks to donors, holiday party was a success

On Oct. 31, the Division of Child and Family Services hosted its 10th annual Halloween Party for its foster children in care. This party is considered an appreciation event for the foster families which continually give of their time, energy and resources to care for children who have been removed from their homes.

These families are valuable to us and they deserve the very best from this state as well as from the surrounding community. While past years have been successful, this year was extraordinary because of the businesses which so willingly stepped forward to contribute to this event. Not one delectable morsel or delicious treat (was wasted) and no need for this event went unmet (because) all of it was donated.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the following, which gave so abundantly so this event could occur: Raley's Supermarket, Capital Ford Mazda-Hyundai, Save Mart on North Carson, Smith's Food & Drug Stores, Wal-Mart north and south locations, Costco, Bouncerz, and Sparkie the Clown.

Other donors were the Carson City Fire Department, Mrs. Gail Struble, Round Table Pizza north Carson, Pizza Factory Highway 50, Dominos Pizza Highway 50, Port of Subs Highway 50, Slot World Casino, Carson Valley Inn, DCFS, Central Office, and Corpus Christi Catholic Church Youth Group.

Thanks also go to Casino Fandango, Trader Joe's, Starbucks E. William Street, Benson's Pet Foods & Supplies, Ms. Kelly Texeira, Craig & Caren Witt, Bauter & Holmes, DDS, and Gold Dust West Casino.

Thank you Capital Ford for support

As coaches of Carson High School's cross country and girls basketball teams we would like to thank Capital Ford for their recent Drive One For Your School Event.

It is done entirely as a fundraiser for high school programs, and is run as a fundraiser, not a sales event. Many of the employees of Capital Ford donated an entire Saturday to help benefit our school. They have done this on numerous occasions over the last two years. Tim Milligan general manager, Sue Peckham, customer relations manager and Troy Alvonso parts manager, did an outstanding job of staging the cars, informing the friends of our sports programs who came to drive the cars, and advertising the event.

More than 300 generous citizens took time out of their Saturdays to enjoy driving a new Ford, and by doing so, have a donation made to the CHS athletic department for our sports.

The next time you are thinking of buying a vehicle, visit Capital Ford. They have a solid commitment to quality in the vehicles they sell, the service and parts they provide and also to the community they are a part of.
