COMMUNITY: Tight race in Mosconi Division

AltF4 and Rattlers are tied for first place in the Mosconi Division of the Carson City chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.

The teams are tied with 40 points apiece. Squeeze Play is a point behind with 39.

Don Allred leads the high tier with 44 points, seven ahead of Jamie Day and 10 better than Greg Theis. John Raker leads the middle tier with 26, one ahead of Roger Alther and two ahead of Nick Duval and Bob King.

In the low tier, George Vick leads with 18 points, four ahead of Jamie Dyer and five ahead of Kathleen Davis.

In the Comstock Division, Dean's Machine leads the way with 878 points, 46 ahead of Big Dogs and Unintentional Defense.

Dan Haddix leads the high tier with 49 points, 14 ahead of Mike Snoddy. Chris Skelley leads the middle tier with 35 points, three ahead of Kim Dandos. Jackie Richards leads the low tier with 26 points while Greg Gonzalez has 23.

In the Highway 50 League, Ponderosa leads with 51 and the Union Bruisers are second with 47. Crazy B's is third with 42.

Greg Theis leads the high tier with 31. Rod Day and Michael Hoppes are tied for the middle tier with 37 points apiece. Linda Miller leads the low tier with 18 points, four ahead of Tom Miles.

Carson Middle 8th graders are 8-4

Carson Middle School's eighth-grade basketball team won three of five games recently to improve to 8-4 on the season.

Carson lost to Eagle Valley 37-30 as Ian Schulz led the way with nine and Asa Carter added eight. Carson followed that up with a 33-24 loss to Winnemucca. Carter led the offense with 12 points and Eddie Duarte added six.

Carson bounced back with a 38-26 win over Lovelock, as Schulz scored 10 and Jared Rooker added eight. Carson pounded Pau Wa Lu 36-19 as Carter scored 12 and Kyle Krebs added nine. Carson won its third straight with a 48-38 win over South Tahoe as Carter had 12, Schulz 10 and Duarte nine.

Predator hunting seminars offered

RENO - Cabela's will offer a series of free predator hunting seminars by various pro staffers and experts as well as feature many of their prepared snack and gift food items Dec. 3-4.

Area wildlife biologist Jack Spencer will present Predator Tracking and Populations at noon both days.

Tom Austin of FoxPro will do Mastering the Predator Call at 1 p.m. both days and Everything You Need for a Successful Predator Hunt at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday; Darrel Nunez of Hunter's Specialties will cover Predator Hunting 101 at 11 a.m.

Food items available to sample include salsas, mustards and jams plus prepared dip and soup mixes along with Cabela's pretzels, chips and crackers as well as sausages and jerkeys.
