A simplified fare structure will greet BlueGo passengers this weekend and a new route between Minden and Carson City begins Monday, the Tahoe Transportation District announced Friday.

The new fare and route structure allows BlueGo to hold the line on bus fares without major price increases on its main routes and enables the transportation system to operate in a positive and sustainable manner.

A new expanded bus service from the Gardnerville Ranchos to Carson City will begin Monday. Routes begin operation at 6:20 a.m. with the last run starting at 5:15 p.m., 5 days a week. Fares are $4 for intercity trips and $2 within the local areas with half-price fares offered to youth, seniors and those with disabilities. Transfer stations are located at Tillman and Kimmerling in Gardnerville, and in Carson City at Washington and Plaza Streets.

As a completely new service model, the revised route structure will be evaluated throughout October. Any possible improvements will be made and new rider guides distributed by mid-November. The finalized schedules will go into effect after the Thanksgiving

holiday.

BlueGo, which operates seven days a week, is South Shore Lake Tahoe's public transportation system that provides fixed route, demand response, ski shuttles, seasonal trolley service and commuter express routes between South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Minden / Gardnerville and now the length of the Carson Valley.
