A Carson City woman was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover in Lyon County.

Carolyn Marie Dana, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene on Highway 50 Alternate, about 8 miles south of Fernley in an area known as Damon's Curve, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen.

Dana had been southbound in a 2003 Mazda Protege sedan on the two-lane highway about 2 p.m. when she crossed into the oncoming travel lane, entered a broadside skid, traveled through a section of barbed wire fence and rolled over several times, Allen said.

The car came to rest on its roof. Dana had not been wearing a seat belt and was thrown from her car. No other vehicles were involved.

The Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Mike Stapledon at (775) 689-4623 regarding case # NHP-111008223.
