Board decision could position city to take over medical billing

Members of the Carson Board of Supervisors are scheduled to take action Thursday on an agreement which could position the city to take over all medical billing from the state.

The board will consider a resolution accepting an inter-local agreement in the amount of $539,989 from the Nevada Sate Health Division's Bureau of Child, Family and Community Wellness.

The agreement directs Carson City Health and Human Services to develop a plan which will lead to overcoming current obstacles.

The funding will be used for one part-time and three full-time employees. In the long term, it could mean increased revenue for immunization services and will help the department sustain a biller after the inter-local funds expire.

In other matters Thursday, the board will discuss or take action to:

• Approve funding of about $1.9 million to Douglas County, and about $1.6 million to Washoe County from the voter-approved state Question 1 fund for the Tahoe Bikeway.

• Oversee a presentation of $950 from AT&T to Alternative Sentencing for the graffiti abatement paint fund.

• Present a proclamation for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

• Present a proclamation recognizing the significance of the Festival of Diwali.

Acting as the Liquor and Entertainment Board, supervisors and Sheriff Kenny Furlong will discuss or take action to:

• Approve Jenjira Rodboon as the liquor manager for Sushi Delight, located at 111 E. Telegraph St.

• Approve Richard Gardner as the liquor manager for the Red Hut Cafe, located at 4385 S. Carson St.
