Our dearest Nelly Frida Kessler Berry, age 80, was born to Ernst and Frida Kessler on August 8, 1931 in Gossau, Switzerland. She passed away peacefully at home in Alpine, Utah on August 27, 2011 due to ovarian and breast cancer. She met the love of her life in California, James Berry and after just 3 weeks; they were happily married for 49 years. They lived in Orange County, California, where they raised their 3 children: Werner, Jim, and Maurine. Later they moved to Santa Maria, California, Carson City, Nevada and Alpine, Utah. For many years Nelly was a child care mom at home, caring for young children. They loved and adored her as she did them. Some would cry when they had to leave. Many families would take their vacations at the same time she did, as they didn't want anyone else to care for their kids. She had so many talents just to name few: gardening, canning, painting, cooking, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and playing the accordion. Nelly especially loved traveling by motor home or by plane with her family throughout California, Canada and most recently, Switzerland to visit her home town one last time. Mom's family meant the world to her. She was everything a mother should be, and a whole lot more. She lived life to the fullest and would often say, "I love my life." Nelly was outgoing, friendly, and established friendships that endured her whole life. She always served others and put them first. Her beautiful Swiss accent will never be forgotten! Nelly's husband Jim loved her and cared for her at home till her passing. Whatever she needed or wanted, he made sure she had it. Jim was a big reason Nelly loved her life. He always provided the best life for her and their family.

Many thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Nelly is preceded in death by her brother, Ernie Kessler and parents; survived by her loving husband, James Edward Berry; children Werner, Jim and Maurine Henry, their spouses and many grandchildren.

Per mom's wishes, there will be no funeral, as she had an 80th Birthday celebration of her life with her family and relatives just before passing. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
