Carson City District Attorney Neil Rombardo will speak before the National Narcotics Officers' Associations' Coalition at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the Silver Legacy Hotel and Casino in Reno.
Rombardo will discuss efforts in Nevada and the United States to combat methamphetamine production, distribution, and use.
"Methamphetamine remains the number one drug threat in Nevada," Rombardo said. "Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and Las Vegas lie on two of the largest methamphetamine trade routes in America.
In addition, small domestic labs that use store-bought products to manufacture methamphetamine remain a major threat to Nevada and all of the western states. It is critical that we not relent in our efforts to combat meth trafficking, use, and production."
Other speakers at the event will include Tony Loya, director of the National Methamphetamine and Pharmaceuticals Initiative, Andrew Lingenfelter, regional representative of Sen. Dean Heller's Office, and members of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of National Drug Control Policy, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
