Family and friends are mourning the loss of their loved one, Carol Marie Cone, who passed away on April 16, 2012 after a four-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Carol was born September 11, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Edwin and Blanche Thompson.

Carol married James Leland Cone on February 26, 1955 in San Fernando, California. The happy couple was blessed by the adoption of Kelley Diane in April, 1960 and Michael James in October, 1962. In the late 1960's the family moved to northern California where they lived for many years in the small town of Woodfords.

Carol was a bookkeeper for Raley's supermarket in Gardnerville and Incline Village, Nevada. After retirement, she lived for a time in Port Orford, Oregon where she loved long walks on the beach and the peaceful tranquility of the Oregon forests and coastline.

Most recently, Carol made her home in Yerington, Nevada where she volunteered as a senior companion. She cultivated a beautiful garden and fancied herself a 'master gardener'.

Carol leaves behind family and friends in Nevada, California, Oregon, Arkansas and Texas, including her brother, Alan Thompson of Carson City, Nevada; daughter, Kelley Hopkins of Dayton, Nevada; son, Michael Cone, of Fernley, Nevada; and grandchildren, Adie and James Cone.

A private memorial will be held at a future date. Friends and family are encouraged to plant a tree or flower in Carol's memory.
