Yesterday a prominent citizen made a $50 bet with another and the money was put in the hands of a third man that Jessie James is not dead. The James gang, who are devoted, put up to kill an innocent man, palm him off as James and throw the scent of the detectives off. If not decided in six months, it is to be a draw.

100 YEARS AGO

In the April Number of The American City there is an article that quotes Carson City Mayor Poujade as follows: "In my opinion the most forward step taken by Carson City as a municipality during the past two years was the holding of a municipal election - the first for many years, the Board of City Trustees having held over from year to year. This action shows the city is alive."

70 YEARS AGO

The Neighbors of Woodcraft have elected officers for the coming year: Elizabeth Madden, guardian neighbor; Ann Fettic, advisor; Emma King, banker; Winifred Marr, clerk; Saville Donahue, magician; Dora Bath, attendant; Florence Austin, captain of the guard; Mildred McNeil, flag bearer; Stella Ogden, musician.

The Carson Senator JV team beats Reed 12-2 with winning pitcher Kevin Silsby going the distance allowing six walks, two hits, one earned run and fanned four.
