RENO - Carson High got goals from Kiahna Pimental and Chantel Torres to beat Reno. 2-0, Tuesday afternoon in a season-opening Division I soccer match.

The win marked a successful debut for new coach Greg Lehman, who took over when Randy Roser resigned after last year.

"It flt really good," Lehman said. "The whole team played great today. Our back line attacked really well. Jamie King played really well back there; all of them did."

The defense was so good, keeper Emmy Heller had to face just one serious scoring threat.

Carson took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when Pimental took a pass from Michelle Sandage, and beat the Reno keeper. Torres made it 2-0 with a goal in the 51st minute.

"Kiahna went on a long run and her defender went with her," Lehman said. "Michelle forced the defender to come up and play her, and Michelle played the ball through and Kiahna finished it."
