Obituary: Paul Alan Harley Wood

Paul Alan Harley Wood passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2012. Alan was born on March 4, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Irene Wood. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters. Alan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy Giurlani Wood; children, Roy Wood and Danilisa Wood; grandchildren, Marco Covarrubias & Catherine Wood; brother, James Wood; sisters, Janet Watson and Shirley Bettencourt along with numerous nieces, nephews, foster children, foster grandchildren & foster great-grandchildren.

Alan made his home in Carson City, Nev., and spent most of his life giving back. He owned and managed a Foster Care Facility and cared for countless children. He also mentored other foster parents. He is lovingly called "Dad" by hundreds of foster kids. The influence and impact he had on his "kids", friends and family is far-reaching. He has loved ones all over the world.

Alan enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and playing his guitar. Alan had the greatest sense of humor. He laughed every day and encouraged others to laugh as well. He will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00-5:00 pm at his home. Eulogy will be given by his niece, Roberta Monroe at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome to stop by and share memories and thoughts. For information please call 775-883-0366 or 775-883-2719.
