RENO (AP) - Three people were injured when a small plane crashed Saturday in a remote Nevada valley about 100 miles east of Reno.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the three were in a Beechcraft BE35 that crashed while taking off Saturday morning from a runway in Dixie Valley.

Two were flown by Care Flight medical helicopter to a Reno hospital and arrived in stable condition. Another was taken by ambulance to another hospital.

Their names were not immediately released.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the plane is registered to Dan Urquhart of Fallon, which is located about 40 miles southwest of the crash site.

The FAA says the plane sustained major damage after crashing near a geothermal plant.

The cause of the 5:20 a.m. crash is under investigation.
