Three Assembly incumbents, including Carson City's Pete Livermore, have announced plans to seek re-election. Livermore represents District 40, which includes Carson City and part of southern Washoe County.

"This is no time for beginners," he said in a statement. "To be successful, the next Nevada Legislature needs experienced leaders who have proven themselves worthy of the public's trust."

Livermore, a Republican, has lived in Carson City since 1960 and operated several fast-food restaurants. He was first elected in 2010. Before that, he served three terms on the Carson City Board of Supervisors and on the city's debt management and audit committees.

Henderson Republican Lynn Stewart announced plans to seek another term representing District 22. He said that in 2011, he fought to block higher taxes, and proudly states that "not one single new tax was established."

A longtime teacher at Boulder City High, he is a lifelong resident of Southern Nevada.

Democrat Skip Daly of Sparks also announced his re-election bid. Like Livermore, he was a freshman in the 2011 session.

He said his top priority was job growth during that session and he said one measure - "School Works," to repair older schools - has already created hundreds of jobs and is expected to result in 1,000 jobs in Washoe County alone.

But he said lawmakers still have a long way to go to create more jobs, improve education and diversify the economy.
