At the rifle practice on Sunday, Captain H.G. Parker, of the first class, made 14 points, the best score at the 200-yard target. In the second class, Henry Meyer of the second made 43 points, winning the first place rifle the second year in succession. In the third class, James G. Chelsey made 32 points.

The heaviest summer storm that has visited in several years came this way Saturday and lasted well into the night. The result was about eight inches of snow on the Glenbrook summit, nearly a foot at Como with the same at Bridgeport, and generous rains in the valleys.

Lions who attended the clubs meeting had plenty of cigars to smoke. Bill Mathews, now frequently addressed as "Grandpa," passed the cigars as evidence of his pleasure at the arrival of his grandson. Director Isle Bair likewise handed out smokes for his recent marriage.
