PREPS: McGahuey, Morrow lead CHS to win

RENO - Christa McGahuey hit a three-run homer and pitched a three-hiter to lead Carson High's softball team to a 9-1 win over McQueen Thursday afternoon.

The win upped Carson's record to 4-0 in Northern 4A play.

Carson took a quick 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run single by Danielle Morrow. McGahuey allowed her only run of the game in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly.

Carson extended its lead to 3-1 in the third when McQuen made a two-out error, and added a run in the fourth on a run-scoring single by Emily Collins.

The Senators made it 5-1 in the fifth thanks to a Morrow triple and McGahuey single.

In the sixth, Carson exploded for four runs.

Morgan Kleine walked with one out and Collins ingled. Purcell followed with a run-scoring double, and McGahuey followed with a thre-run homer.

Collins went 3-for-3, while Ellise McGowan, McGahuey and Morrow all had two hits. Purcell and Becca Breuer added a hit apiece.

Spanish Springs edges Carson

SPARKS - Spanish Springs scored three time in the bottom of the fifth to knock off the Douglas Tigers, 5-3, in a Norhern 4A softball game.

Douglas dropped to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in league.

Amanada Caras walked and moved to second on a single Aaliyah Paxson. Jenna Geyer reached on an error, scoring both runners to make it 2-0.

Spanish Springs got one run back in the first on a Douglas error. The Tigers made it 3-1 in the fifth when Paxon's bunt was misplayed,

panish Springs took the lead for good with three in the fifth and for good measure tacked one on in the sixth.

Paxson led the offense with two hits.

Kalee Duryee picked up the loss in the circle.
