Last week's Bike to Work challenge yielded the highest number of participants to date.

"With 6,132.32 miles biked or walked to work, and 1646 trips on foot or by bike, this was our most successful Bike to Work Week Corporate Challenge ever," said organizer Jeff Potter. "Thank you to everyone who participated!"

The other events for Bike Month were also well-attended. Jeff Moser said around 100 people showed up for the cruiser ride around the west side of Carson City, about double the number that usually shows up.

One of the goals this year was to make the ride more fun," Moser wrote on his blog, bikecarson.com. "To accomplish this, we made the event sillier. A few people wore costumes last year, so this year we really encouraged everyone to do so. Everywhere you looked this year, there were colorful costumes, decorated bicycles, and custom cruisers. It definitely had a parade atmosphere."
