Supervisors to meet Tuesday

In a rare change from its normal Thursday meeting schedule, the Board of Supervisors will convene Tuesday to canvass the results of the General Election.The canvass is required by state law to certify the results as official.Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover will present the final results of each race for certification by the board.In addition, the board is expected to direct Treasurer Al Kramer to give notice of sale for 29 different pieces of property in the capital. Each piece of property can be sold for not less than the total of taxes owed, costs, penalties and legally chargeable interest. Kramer advised the board that, while this step towards a tax sale is necessary, some of the properties are protected from sale by federal bankruptcy laws.Also on the agenda is a presentation on the proposed Carson Valley Discovery Trail. The bureau of Land Management, Carson Valley Trails Association and staff will introduce the plan for a 45-mile long trail system for non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians running along the east side of the Carson Valley in Douglas County.Finally, the board is expected to Hampton Inn and Suites and accept their donation of $20,000 worth of used fitness equipment to the Parks and Recreation Department. The donation includes an exercise bicycle, stair climber, elliptical, and cable weight machine to be used at the Carson Aquatic Facility.The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Sierra Room at the Community Center. Other meetings:• The Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.. That session will be followed by a meeting of the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission. The possibility of a bicycle and pedestrian facility along Kings Canyon Road between Thames Lane and Ormbsby Boulevard will be discussed.• Lyon County Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room of the Lyon County Administrative Complex, 27 S. Main St.
