The pairing of fine wine and food planned by Charlie Abowd of Cafe’ at Adele’s and Mark Estee of Reno’s Campo provides the lure for a Nov. 12 fundraiser to benefit the Greenhouse Project. The third annual Celebrity Chef Harvest Dinner at Adele’s will feature six courses of food and wine as prepared by Abowd, Adele’s chef and owner, along with Estee as this year’s guest chef. Campo recently was named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America.Seating is limited to 90 guests and cost of the fund-raising event is $200 per seat. The Greenhouse Project was initiated in concept by Karen Abowd, a Carson City Cultural Commission member and the co-owner of Adele’s.The project provides education and vocational programs creating a source of fresh produce for local food banks and school programs. It originated to hang flower baskets in Carson City’s business district.“Mark and Charlie have a lot in common,” Karen Abowd said. “Because of their frequent communication and respect for each other’s talents, Mark was the natural fit for the celebrity chef for this year’s event.”This year’s dinner is being sponsored by Eric Abowd and his company, Abowd & Rose Financial Group, involving a third member of the family in the fund-raising event. His firm’s $6,300 will mean all proceeds go for community reinvestment, he said.
