Don't let us enter the Twilight Zone

The GOP brings to mind Rod Serling's show opening, "You're about to enter another dimension, not only of sight and sound, but mind. Journey into the land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone." i.e. "bizarro world."

The GOP offers two wealthy people (children of privilege) proposing the same, failed "trickle down" policy (tax cuts for the rich to create jobs) as Reagan and George W. Bush before. Reagan quadrupled the deficit and lost jobs. Later, Clinton reversed this with tax increases, creating jobs and leaving a budget surplus. Then Bush goes backward, again cuts taxes, starts two wars resulting in deficit by 2009 and severe recession. Clark Clifford, a great former statesman, said in 1980, "If Reagan thinks he can cut taxes, increase defense spending and balance the budget, then he's an amiable dunce." Truer words were never spoken.

Romney destroyed companies and workers' lives and outsourced lots of jobs. Adding insult to injury, Romney hid the massive profits from this abomination in offshore accounts to avoid taxes. This conduct is immoral, unethical and unpatriotic (maybe even criminal). Now he wants to be president (without showing his tax returns). What? Romney's vice president pick is a disciple of Ayn Rand, an atheist and pro-abortion. Yet Romney/Ryan claim to be religious and pro-life. So we can add hypocrisy to the list of faults.

We know the adage, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." What about a third time?

Economy isn't Bush's fault

I'm so sick of Democrats blaming the Republicans for the economic crisis. Their favorite line is: President Obama "inherited" the deficit from George Bush. This economy was already bad when Obama took office.

Excuse me, the deficit has increased tremendously since Obama took office. The increase is not George Bush's fault.

Democrats in Washington, the power-hungry Harry Reid, keep lying to the people they're supposed to be serving. Open your eyes, people, the only interest they have is their own pockets. We, the little people, are the ones suffering, not them. President Obama said during his 2008 campaign that if we work hard, we could "change" this nation. Well, things did change, for the worst!

Now, the president wants us to "work harder." How much harder does he think we should work? How about him? He wants us to "sacrifice more." Well, Mr. President, we have sacrificed a lot. Many have lost their homes, jobs, life savings. We have nothing or too little left to give for you.

I have never been so disappointed over a president as I am with this one, not even when Clinton was in office, and he was a disgrace of a president. I really hope and pray that whoever wins this election does what they promise he says they will do, because we can't afford any more sacrifices. Not just personal but as a nation. No more broken promises and lies.
