The Board of Supervisors will vote on whether to extend Carson City Manager Larry Werner's contract another two years when it meets Thursday.

The proposed contract doesn't contain a raise. In fact, Werner will get less take-home pay since he will have to pay the increased Public Employee Retirement System premiums - about $60 off each biweekly paycheck.

The proposal before the board would extend his existing contract from Jan. 1, 2013, through Dec. 31, 2015. It isn't agendized as a review of Werner's performance. That occurs each January.

Werner's total salary would be $138,592 for the year. The total value of his salary plus benefits comes to $192,763.

The contract specifies he would only receive cost of living adjustments if other unclassified department heads receive raises during the coming two-year period.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors meets at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Go to www.carson.org to download an agenda and a complete information packet.
