130 Years AgoSam Noyes of the Mint, broke his leg at the V. & T. Railroad depot... just reaching the corner at the depot he turned his head to watch Hume Yerington mount a bicycle. Sam stepped into a hole where a carpenter was mending the platform and taken some planks. He broke his leg below the knee and is good for a couple of months in bed.120 Years AgoThe first day of the District Fair took place. The track and the horsemen who had been thumping the hard track at Reno were delighted with the fine condition. The Grand Stand was well filled by 2 o'clock and the quarter stretch lined with carriages, with the ladies out in large force. The first was a dash of three quarters of a mile for District horses. Charger, Martinent and Randwick raced. Martinent won with Charger second. 70 Years AgoSpeed limit: Governor E. P. Carville issued a proclamation establishing a speed limit of 35 miles per hour for the duration of the war... Gov.
