Carson JV gridders rip Damonte

RENO - Carson High's JV football team rolled to an easy 58-29 win over Damonte Ranch Friday night.

Corey Reid scored three touchdowns, while Dilin Roker and Tyler Rodgers scored two each. Mike Wemheuer also scored once. Among Reid's scores were a 60-yard reception and a 90-yard fumble return. Rogers had 114 yards rushing, while Reid and Wemheuer had 72 receiving yards each.

Carson QB Nolan Shine threw for 239 yards, recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and had seven tackles. Reid also had five stops, while Brandon mandoki, Brandon Maffei and Kylor Perez had four stops each.

Carson freshmen win

RENO -The Carson freshman squad traveled to Damonte Ranch and won 32- 21.

Elijah Fajayan led the Senators' squad rushing five times for 159 yards and three touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. On defense, Fajayan had seven tackles tackles and two interceptions.

Asa Carter carried 11 times for 123 yards and had a 54-yard TD catch, and QB Victor Castro Jr. went 4-for-4 passing for 85 yards including a TD 2-point conversion pass.

Ikela Lewis led the defense with nine tackles, while Brady O'Keefe had six and Diego Francis added five tackles. Tyler Lethcoe and Kevin Rusler had sacks, while Mathias Williams had an interception.

GOLF

Dayton girls 7th at Fernley

FERNLEY - Dayton High finished seventh at the recent Division IA tournament at Fernley Golf Club.

Elko won with a 372, while Lowry was second at 381. Dayton finished with a 496.

Taylor Ingersoll led Dayton with a 120. Kassandra Acosta was next with a 122, Samantha Cassinelli 126, Alexandra Jones 128 and Elena Watts 145.

VOLLEYBALL

Douglas sweeps Hug

Shawnee McFadden had seven kills and four digs, and Jenna Broussard had five kills, a dig, 3.5 blocks and an assist to lead Douglas past Hug, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-11 Thursday night.

Bailey Gansberg had 10 assists and three digs, while Shelby Van Winkel seven digs and 16 assists.

Douglas is 7-10 overall and 3-5 in Division I play, including 3-2 in the Sierra League.

Muckers sweep Excel Christian

SPARKS - Virginia City improved to 4-1 in Division IV play with a 25-15, 25-12 and 25-15 victory over Excel Christian.

Jamie Poston led the Muckers with 10 kills, five digs and five aces. Nikki D'Agostino had four kills, four aces and three digs, and Lea Laney contributed three kills, six digs and three aces. Corinna Obermayr finished with three kills and four digs plus two aces.

Virginia City JV won 25-21 and 25-15 to improve to 2-0 in league and 9-1 overall.

CROSS COUNTRY

Drozdoff 12th at Stanford

STANFORD -Alex Drozdoff ran a 19:26 en route to a 12th-place finish in her division at Saturday's Stanford Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course.

Carson's girls finished 12th out of 34 teams.

Cindy Juchtzer was 46th in 20:34, while Evelyn Delgado was 68th in 21:08. Athena Favero was 70th in 21:12. Shelby Brown ran a 22:27 and Allison Greene ran a 23:18.

"The girls ran a really good race," coach Pete Sinnott said. "Evelyn Delgado ran a good race. She'll help put us in competition (for the post-season)."

On the boys' side, Carson finished 19th.

Nick Greene was 44th in 17:02, while Tony Cacioppo was was 71st in 17:21. Daniel Jauregui was 118th in 17:53, Porforio Jauregui was 163rd in 18:14 and Tylar Chester was 167th in 18:16.
