‘Winnie the Pooh Kids’ production begins Friday

The Wild Horse Children’s Theater will present “Disney’s Winnie the Pooh Kids” weekends from Friday through April 28 in the Performance Hall of the Brewery Arts Center.

“When Disney adapted (the children’s story), they did really good at keeping the same characters,” said Carol Scott, executive director of Wild Horse. “The songs show the different attributes of each character.”

In the production, which is designed for children, Pooh is on the hunt for honey when he and his friends discover Christopher Robin has been captured.

Preparing for a rescue, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship and sharing snacks.

The production has a chorus of woodland creatures that lends itself to a large ensemble cast, according to Scott.

“We gave them leeway to decide what kind of woodland creatures they wanted to be,” she said.

Older actors also are involved as technicians and will present a pre-show performance of “The House at Pooh Corner.”

A dinner and show package that includes reserved seating is available through Foodies Bystro at the Brewery Arts Center.
