A 57-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday after he and a truck collided on Fernley’s Main Street.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said David Bertroch of Fernley was riding his bicycle without a safety helmet westbound in front of a Chevy pickup that was driven by 52-year-old Carson Shockley, also of Fernley.

The NHP said the cyclist and the pickup truck collided, and both vehicles came to rest blocking the travel lane. The accident occurred in front of the Villa Mobile Home Park west of the roundabout.

Bertroch was transported by North Lyon County ambulance service to Renown Medical Center for serious head injuries. The NHP said Shockley was not injured during the collision.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the accident, the NHP said no one has been placed at fault and no citation has been issued at this time. The accident is still under investigation.
