Yank’s new place on the Tahoe shore is most beautifully situated, being within a few minutes walk to Fallen Leaf Lake and within sight of Emerald Bay. Many visitors are there — which has induced Doc Benton to put a tri-weekly stage to that point. This will give the opportunity to all who wish to see the lake and to do so agreeably.

Our Sage Hen hunters came in empty handed on Sunday after tramping over the country a distance of 15 miles. Our streets are looking very quiet just now as many Carsonites are at the Summer resorts or in San Francisco.

The talk that there is no war cloud in sight on the horizon of Mexico is somewhat misleading. The Mexican Republic has told Uncle Sam to recognize the Republic or get out. There has been a lot of dove and olive branch nonsense going on about the border for a long time.

Daily household jobs and outdoor chores are being cared for in a new way by the Nevada State Orphan’s Home. Every child from the age of eight through high school participates in planning and doing jobs necessary for happy home living.

World history may be held up for 10 days while “Khruschev” sits out a drunken driving jail sentence in the Ormsby County Jail. The Khruschev being held is not the rollypolly Russian, but a sarcastic motorist from Wisconsin. During booking, when a deputy asked the man how to spell his name, he replied “Khruschev.”

Christine Marie Grabinski, 13 months, has won the Nevada State Mini-Baby Petite and Mary Beth Harmon, 7, is first alternate to the Nevada State “Our Little Miss” pageant.

Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
