Obituary: Bonnie Jo Spencer

Bonnie Jo Spencer, long time resident of Carson City passed away peacefully Sunday August 18, 2013 at Carson Tahoe Hospital. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Bobby and Kelly Jo Huston of Georgia, daughter Wendi Kay Spencer of Carson City and son Jeffrey Scott Spencer of arizona, grand-daughter Christeena Phillips of Florida, grandsons Josh, Steven and Jake Spencer all of Montana, and four great-grandchildren Charlotte, Jonathan, Avagail and Maxwell Phillips all of Tampa, Florida. She was also lucky enough to have been blessed with and survived by her very special friend Mr. John Burns a lifetime resident of Carson City and two wonderful sisters-in-law Norma Potts and Linda Stiner-Deaver.

She was preceded in death by husband Alton “Skip” Spencer, mother Lee Nora Stiner, siblings Bill Potts of Carson City, Frank Stiner, Martin Stiner, and Cindy Deaver all of California.

Bonnie has made Carson City her home since 1981 when she moved from California and purchased the Tumbleweed Tavern in Mound House. She also spent several years as a change runner at Slot World in Carson City. Bonnie was known for being a dog lover and adopting the dogs that nobody else wanted. She was loved deeply and will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. There will be a private family service.
