Ernst (Ernie) Beeghly passed away Tuesday, November 26th surrounded by family. He was born in Fallon on January 24, 1933 to Sam and Daisy Beeghly. Ernie attended Churchill County Schools. He graduated from Churchill County High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Morgan. Together they raised four daughters, Pam, Gwen, Diana, and Angie.

Ernie was a meat cutter at Heck’s Meat, Food King-Meat King, and Safeway. This career took him to Yreka, Susanville, and Reno. Ernie had a great entrepreneurial spirit and began a series of his own businesses in Fallon. He and his wife, Sharon, opened the grocery store Giant Food, Inc. Later he owned and operated Food Lane Market and Lane’s Motel, Holiday Sports and Spirits, Capital Minute Market, and 3 carwashes. Ernie also loved to invest in real estate and was a broker at Berney Realty.

Ernie was an avid golfer and always wanted to improve his stroke. His desire to improve was shared with his children and others. Ernie coached many softball and baseball teams at all levels. He loved to fish and hunt. He loved to play the piano and was the pianist in the band the Jubileers. He was a member of the Lassen and Fallon Volunteer Fire Departments and the 20/30 Club. Ernie belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sharon; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Scott Thompson, Gwen and Michael Lister, Diana and Dave Rovetti, and Angie and Steve Heck; grandchildren; Scott (Jessica), Melissa (Roger), Angie; Michelle (Sean), Mandie, A.J. (Kari), Jeffrey (Katlie); Emily, Morgan (Daniel), Stephanie, Jack, Jillian; Greg, Charlie, Samantha, Nathan; great-grandchildren; Kathryn, Roger, Victoria, Jadan, Alexandria; Allison, Michael D., Maxton, Camden, one more on the way; Jaxson; Caidance, Addison; his brother, Sam, and sister Karen Sue; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral is under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home. Funeral will held on Saturday, November 30 at 1:00p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ at Latter Day Saints, 450 North Taylor Street, Fallon, Nevada 89406.Donations in his memory may be made to the Ernst S. Beeghly Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund, 1705 Manchester Circle, Fallon, NV 89406.
