Obituary: Kathryn Rooney Lane

November 7, 1920 - November 1, 2013

Kathryn Rooney Lane passed away on November 1, 2013 at home with her daughters by her side. She was born in Hobson, Montana to Frank and Mary Jane Rooney. Kay was a kind and loving mother, sister, wife and friend. She was proud to say that she was a “Rosie the Riveter” in Tacoma Washington during WW II. She was also a waitress and a homemaker. She

resided in Belgrade, Montana and Carson City most of her adult life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edward “Ed” Lane, daughter Delores Hall and grandson Eugene Newby. She is survived by daughters and son in laws, Esther Pruett Newby and Ron Newby, Cheryl Lane Rotter and Mark Rotter and Tracey Lane Delaplain and Tom Delaplain. Her grandchildren are Lorinda Newby, Corrinne and Danny Rotter, Patrick and Sean Delaplain, Tammy Lowe, Mike Ford, and Londa MacElrath. She treasured her six great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on December 14 at 11 am at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in the chapel. Address 3000 Lompa Lane, Carson City. The family will be wearing green for the services in celebration of our Irish heritage and because Kay loved the color green. Feel free to join us in the wearing of the green. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you donate to a Senior charity in the spirit of the Christmas season.
