Ten Carson High basketball players - five boys and five girls - and girls coach Nathan Tolbert received post-season honors for the 2012-13 season.

Tolbert guided a young Senators team to a 13-11 record this year, including a second-place finish in the Sierra League, to claim Sierra League Coach of the Year. He shared the regional coach award with Shane Foster of Reno and Christine Eckles of Spanish Springs.

On the boys side, Rafe King and Matt Nolan, both of whom averaged more than 14 points a game, were selected first team all-Sierra League and all-region.

Junior forward Alan Cohen was a second-team selection, while senior Chris Lopez and sophomore Kyle Steele were named honorable mention.

Galena's Brian Voyles, who guided the Grizzlies to second place in the Sierra League, was the coach of the year. Douglas' Hunter Myers was the Sierra League Player of the Year and co-Regional Player of the Year with Hug's Sam Williams.

On the girls' side, junior guard Savannah Smith and fiery Elena Thurman were both first-team honorees on the Sierra League and regional team.

Defensive specialist Maddi Saarem, probably the Senators' soundest fundamental player, was a second-team all-Sierra selection. Sophomores Gina Peacock and Madison Preston were honorable mention selections.

Gabbi Concepcion of Bishop Manogue was the Sierra League Player of the Year, and she shared the top regional player award with Gigi Hascheff of Reno and Reed's Gabby Williams.
