Baseball fans won’t want to miss the chance to see Major League Baseball standout and local hero Matt Williams at the 10th annual fundraiser for Western Nevada College baseball and softball teams. Tickets are available for the Wildcats Athletics Gala on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Downtown Reno Ballroom. Tables of 10 are $1,000 and individual tickets are $100, available at www.wnc.edu/wildcatsgala or through the WNC Foundation at 775-445-3240. The event will also benefit Carson High School baseball and softball teams.Williams is a Carson High School graduate who went on to play for three MLB teams, including the San Francisco Giants. He appeared in three World Series during his 17-year career. “It will be fun to come home and see some familiar faces and be part of the event,” Williams said. “I’m honored that they asked me to be part of it.”Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on dining, entertainment and recreational experiences with a Nevada spin during a live and silent auction.
