PREP: Douglas boys knock off Damonte

The Douglas boys basketball team capitalized on a solid first half Tuesday night to walk away with a 61-51 win at Damonte Ranch.

The win bumped Douglas to 5-1 in league play heading into a key matchup at home against defending regional champion Hug on Friday night (7 p.m.)

Douglas outscored Damonte 26-16 in the first half and never really let the Mustangs get much closer.

Hunter Myers and Pat Johnson each scored 17 points to lead the way for the Tigers. Johnson hit a pair of 3-pointers and Myers grabbed 18 rebounds to go with three blocks.

Joe Syammach added seven points, Michael Nolting had five, AJ Pfaffenberger, James Herrick and Jaden Wass each had four and Austin Evans had a 3-pointer in the win.

VARSITY BASKETBALL

Tahoe boys beat Dayton

DAYTON - Dayton couldn't climb out of a first half hole falling 58-45 to South Tahoe Tuesday night.

The Dust Devils found themselves down 30-17 at half, before playing the Vikings even in the second half.

Brandon Cramer led South Tahoe with 16 points. Dayton's statistics were unavailable.

Tahoe girls edge Dayton

DAYTON - South Tahoe outscored Dayton 20-13 in the final quarter to grab a 48-40 win Tuesday night.

Dayton returns to action Friday at Lowry and then hosts Sparks at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Maribel Ledezma led Dayton with 10, while Ashley Sandy added nine with Lettie Lynch and Gemma Ramirez adding five each. Top scorers Cheyenne Strong and Taylor Ingersoll were held to a combined five points.

"They caught fire in the fourth quarter," sad Dayton coach Cliff Serawop. "Maribel fouled out early in the fourth quarter. I think we played the last six minutes without her. Cheyenne got in foul trouble in the second quarter, and that hurt us. We just didn't do a good job of getting the ball to Taylor."

JV GIRLS BASKETBALL

Carson tops Wooster

The Carson girls basketball team topped Wooster 60-36 on Tuesday night. Lindy Lehmann led the team with 19 points. Gigi Demera, making her first start of the season, scored nine points. Teresa Boehmer also added nine points. All seven Senators scored.

Coach Mike Peterson credited the team's half-court defense in the win. Carson is now 10-4 overall and 7-0 in league.

JV BOYS BASKETBALL

Carson boys pummel Wooster

RENO - Carson started the game with a 20-0 run en route to a 56-27 win over the Colts on Tuesday.

Jared Rooker led Carson with 14 points, while Asa Carter added 11. Ian Schulz finished with eight and Brandon Ruf contributed seven.

FRESHMEN GIRLS BASKETBALL

Carson pounds Wooster

A total team effort led to Carson's domination of out-matched Wooster on Tuesday. Carson won 60-1. The entire Carson roster scored during the win.
