The Nevada State Board of Education will interview the four finalists for state superintendent at a public meeting July 25.

The list includes interim Superintendent Rorie Fitzpatrick and Dale Erquiaga, a former senior policy adviser to Gov. Brian Sandoval.

The other two are longtime education activist and Clark County School Board member Rene Cantu Jr. and Michael Sentence, the former Massachusetts Secretary of Education and senior adviser to that state’s governor.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the Department of Education Board Room in Las Vegas, teleconferenced to the Carson City education boardroom on East Fifth Street.

The board will select three of the candidates for Sandoval, who will choose one.

All four candidates have advanced degrees — Fitzpatrick a Master of Education, Cantu a PhD and Erquiaga a Master of Science. Sentence is a lawyer by training.
