Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections for July 12. All scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:

Starbucks Coffee, 3325 Retail Drive, Suite 200, scored 100 points.

Tip Top Amusements, 1990 S. Roop St., scored 100 points.

Los Caporales Supermarket, Bakery, 1621 E. Highway 50, Suite G, scored 99 points. Bakery items manufactured on site were not properly labelled with ingredients.

Golden Dragon Restaurant, 3250 Retail Drive, Suite 150, scored 96 points. Bags of customer ice were found stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer, corrected on site. Tubs of raw meats were stored above prepared foods in the walk-in. A can opener blade needed food removed from it. The grease collection pan was missing from the left side of the grease hood. There was too much grease accumulation inside the grills. The outside doors and handles of the reach-in units opposite the grills needed cleaning. The fan guard inside the glass door reach-in (to the right of the grills) needed to be cleaned. Dish washing racks were found stored directly on the floor, corrected on site. Some utensil storage containers were not clean inside.

Taqueria Fuentes, 3391 E. Highway 50, scored 96 points. All food stored in refrigerators and freezers were not properly labeled. Knives were stored behind pipes above the three compartment sink. Waste grease was stored behind the facility without a proper lid to prevent infestation by insects and rodents. The wall behind the three compartment sink was not smooth and easily cleanable.

B & E Catering, 1020 Mountain St., scored 95 points. Food prepared at home was served to the public.

Grandma Hattie’s, 2811 S. Carson St., scored 95 points. Potentially hazardous foods on the cook line make-up tables and reach-in refrigerators were founds with temperatures greater than 46 degrees.

Bamboo Garden, 3735 S. Carson St., scored 93 points. All foods in refrigerators and freezers and in bulk holding containers were not properly labeled. Chinese vegetables were stored near the wok in used tomato cans. Biofilm was noted in the ice machine. Kitchen floors under the cooking equipment were greasy and soiled. The 2013 health permit was not posted in a prominent location.

Carl’s Jr./Green Burrito, 1315 S. Carson St., scored 89 points. Sliced vegetable condiments were not held at 40 degrees on the make-up line. There was no soap available for washing dishes. Two ice scoop storage containers were dirty with biofilm build-up, corrected on site. There was no soap at either kitchen hand sink, corrected on site. The dumpster enclosure needed cleaning to remove trash on the ground and excess pallets. Floor sinks were dirty or full of trash, restricting water drainage. Floors in the hot water heater closet and in the chemical storage closer were not clean. The corners of the floor around the soda boxes in the dry storage room had trash accumulation. There were areas of cracked paint on the kitchen ceiling. The ceiling ventilation grate over the three compartment sink was dirty.

Ming’s Restaurant, 2330 S. Carson St., scored 89 points. Pans full of raw shrimp and cut chicken with internal temperatures of 63.9 to 66 degrees were found. Pre-cooked tempura pork was holding at an internal temperature of 52 degrees. All items were on the top of the make-up units opposite the grills. Prepared foods were found stored in cardboard boxes covered with cloth napkins in the walk-in. Tin cans were washed in the dishwasher fro re-use for dry foods. Foods were stored on the floor in the walk-ins. Unpasteurized shell eggs were not stored on the lowest shelf in the walk-in. An ice scoop was found laying in the bin of the main ice machine. A wet wiping cloth, used at the raw food preparation table, had no detectable residual chlorine sanitizer, corrected on site. There were no paper towels at the kitchen hand sink, corrected on site.

Los Caporales Supermarket, take out, 1621 E. Highway 50, Suite G, scored 84 points. Slices of watermelon, covered with plastic wrap, and cantaloupe pieces, packaged in plastic boxes, were held at room temperature in an inadequate ice bath, corrected on site. Cooked carnitas were holding an internal temperature of 121 degrees on the hot-holding service line. A small plastic cup was in the salsa as a scoop. Serving spoons were laying in a pan of cold vegetables and in cooked rice. The hand sink was blocked with dirty wiping cloths, corrected on site. The basins of the three compartment sink were not set up. The middle basin of the three compartment sink was leaking into a collection pan underneath. Wet mops were stored on the floor in the kitchen. A dirty laundry bag was hung on the shelf holding foods and clean utensils in the preparation kitchen. There was no certified food handler present.
