Hendrix’s bolt out of chute at national rodeo

Fallon cowgirl Rachel Hendrix shot out of the gate during 2013 National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., on Monday.

Hendrix sizzled in the breakaway roping with a time of 3.19 seconds to finish the first round in seventh place. She trails Casey Adams of Junction City, Kan., who leads the competition with a mark of 2.75.

Hendrix’s brother, Cord, is tied for second in the Rookie All-Around Cowboy standings with 130 points. Cord Hendrix took eighth in the first round of cutting with 140 points.

He leads Jobe Johns of Banks, Ala., by 10 points.

The rodeo continues through Saturday.
