Oct. 30, 1927 - June 27, 2013

Elenor Candee Frey Fort passed away on June 27, 2013 of natural causes. She was born in Fallon, Nevada to Paul and Virginia Candee on October 30, 1927, and graduated from Churchill County High School in 1946, where she and her brother, Frank, drove school bus routes and played in the band. During her junior year of high school Elenor was selected, for her accomplishments in 4-H leadership and home economics, to represent the State of Nevada at the National 4-H Congress.

She married George Frey in 1947 and had four children: Donald Joseph who died at the age of 2, Louise Virginia, Jerald Paul, and Norman William. She was a conscientious mother, and applied all that she knew to providing a healthy, stable home for her family. During these years, Elenor was active in her church and community, serving at Epworth Methodist Church and with Cowbells and 4-H clubs. She was an excellent seamstress and taught advanced sewing to many young women in the area. She was instrumental in establishing and securing the 4-H Campground at Lake Tahoe for posterity.

As her children grew older, Elenor decided to further her education. She was awarded a Fleischmann scholarship in Home Economics, and graduated from the University of Nevada Reno in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree and started a business in interior design.

Following her divorce in 1976, Elenor moved to Reno where she studied real estate and became an owner/manager of an apartment complex near Lakeside Drive. She was active there, in numerous civic organizations and served a term as president of the American Association of University Women in 1994. She also enjoyed building elaborate doll houses as a hobby.

She returned to Fallon to live out her senior years and resided at Highland Manor. She is survived by her three children, Louise Frey Workman of Chico, California, Jerry Frey of Fallon, Nevada, and Norman Frey of Fallon. She has seven grand children, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Elenor will be laid to rest with her parents and dearest grandmother in the Fallon Cemetery. You are invited to attend a memorial service, in her honor at the Gardens Funeral Home on July 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV 89406.
