Obituary: Paul Sigmond Riggs

Dec. 7, 1935 - July 21, 2013

Paul Sigmond Riggs was born in Raleigh, NC. on December 7, 1935 and passed away in Carson City on July 21, 2013.

He was a wonderful father, he served our country as a Seaman in the Navy, was well educated with degrees in Social Work and Welfare. Our father lived his life focusing on always helping others including many years as a licensed drug & alcohol abuse counselor serving several cities in Carson City, Washoe, Dayton, Minden/Garderville & Yerington Nevada as well as serving the Washoe Tribe Native Indians in Woodfords/Markleeville Ca. He ran the DUI School in Minden/Gardnerville and was a Consultant for the Court DUI Evaluations for many years and held position in the Alpine County Probation Department. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

He leaves behind his four children (Joe, Val, Mike and Greg; eight grandchildren (Natina, Andrew, Zachary, Brandon, Kaylene, John-Paul, Steven and Lisa); ten great grandchildren (Tracy, Emily, Diesel, Charlotte, Alicia, Zoe, Elias, Vincent, Dominic and Mia). His wife/our beautiful mother, Delores Marie Riggs passed on March 12, 2000. He will be missed by many people that he has touched. A Mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila in Carson City by Father Chuck on Monday July 29 at 10 a.m. Following the Mass we will hold a memorial at the Elks Lodge at 515 N. Nevada Street.

In lieu of flowers, Paul requested that you make your donation payable to “Community Counseling Center” at 205 S. Pratt Ave. Carson City.
