Girls State Tea benefits from supporters

The American Legion Auxiliary Capitol Unit 4 recently held its annual Girls State Tea at the Governor’s Mansion. Proceeds from the tea benefit Girls State delegates from Carson and Douglas high schools. Delegates were interviewed and selected based on academics and leadership qualities both in school and in our communities. Girls State is an Americanism study program, and delegates are given information and gain exposure in the affairs of government that will increase their interest and usefulness as citizens.

We would like to thank our generous donors and supporters who helped make this event successful: ALSCO; Bed Bath & Beyond; Cactus Jacks/Jackpot Crossing; C-A-L Ranch Store; Carson Valley Beauty Supply; Carson Valley Community Theatre; Carson Valley Inn; Casino Fandango; Comstock Seed; Downtown 111; Due Sorella; El Charro Avitia; Governor’s Mansion and staff; Horseshoe Club; Ironwood Stadium Cinema 8; Killer Salsa; Loretta Hetman; Minden Fortnightly Club; Minden Meat And Deli; Raley’s; Rapunzel’s; Red’s Old 395 Grill; Reno Aces; Silver Strike Lanes; Slot World; Tahoe Ridge Winery & Marketplace; JT Basque Bar & Dining Room; The Purple Avocado; Trader Joe’s; Vaughn Russell Hair Studio; 1862 David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort & Spa; and Walmart.
